I like the title. It kind of sums up my thoughts about Blogs. Why would anyone want to read anything I have to say about anything? Do I have any thought provoking outlooks not found anywhere else in the world? No, probably not. Do I have an insight of special importance? No, probably not. Do I have anything of earth shattering importance to say about anything at all? No, I assure you I do not. So why am I spending my time writing useless drivel? Perhaps for excercise sake, stretching or calisthenics for my brain. Excersise for when I do actually have something of importance to say.
In this attempt at 21st Century communication, it is my hope to share thoughts, ideas, observations about things I find amusing, thought provoking, interesting, enraging and engaging. I will also share some of the photos I take, primarily of life in New York City. I use a camera in ways a writer uses their ears. I observe. To me, photography has opened my eyes, allowing me to see the world in a very different way. A short walk can turn into an essay on human behavior, things gone un-noticed, sad and happy, moments captured in time. I will post some of my favorite photos with explanations of the scenerio in which they were taken and reasons why I feel that they are important to me.
I am not a Proust nor Joyce scholar. I will try to keep my postings brief and to the point. I will also try not to be pedantic in my writing and I welcome any and all thoughts, comments, stones and arrows thrown my way. This, of course, is said assuming that anyone is in fact, reading any of this (see drivel reference above).
I am under the assumption that I will be writing primarily to myself. Notes taken for future projects that may not be Internet related. I once had a boss who laughed at the notion of the power of the web. He would welcome a lot of business pitches from people wanting to sell him on their ideas. His problem with the Internet is the amount of "channels" available, the endless amount of real estate with no horizon in sight. His notion was a bit short sighted but he did have a point. This Blog is the embodiment of that point.
Never the less. I hope you check in (yes, I mean YOU) from time to time. I also hope and welcome all of your comments, thoughts, follow ups, discourse, etc. All are welcome to participate, the most exclusive, inclusive club ever. Exclusive because odds are that only you are reading at this point. Inclusive because there is not judgement, simply observations made by you and I.
In full disclosure I will use my real name, not some trumped up Internet nomdeplume.

This brings me to a question; The Buffalo News has now required real names in postings on articles or postings on their web site. It felt that it was becoming a sounding board for the disgrutled, angry and in some cases hate filled people who use the paper's web site as a place to voice opinions that they would not necessarily say in person. My question is; is this a form of censorship or honesty on the part of the Buffalo News?
This question is important to me. It should be posed to those who publish. I understand the First Ammendment and the anonymity and protection of news sources but does this apply to protection of anonymity of commentary? It is a sticky one... Your thoughts?
